Unlike traditional box springs which tend to sag overtime (which is horrible for memory foam) this one is designed to create a flat and even surface. It is made from high quality pine wood, and if assembled properly, will prove to be a sturdy foundation for your mattress.

However, I should point out that assembly is required with this one. The company provides you everything you need for assembly (and even marks where the holes need to go) but you will need to spend about 15 or 20 minutes putting this thing together.

Just follow the instruction carefully and eventually you will have a really solid memory foam mattress foundation. It is made in the USA which means it is easy to contact the company should you have any problems.

3. Versiflex Mattress Box Spring Foundation

The Versiflex Mattress Boxspring Foundation is the last one I decided to include in this article and one which I was originally hesitant to include. This one is a bit of a trade-off, because it is not as high quality as the Dynasty Mattress or Sleep Master foundations, but is easy to move around into smaller spaces. If you plan on travelling a bit or moving into a small apartment then the Versiflex Mattress boxspring foundation may be the way to go.

It is entirely collapsable and can fit into a box with the dimensions of 76″ x 10″ x 10″. With a ten minute approximate assembly time it is truly the ideal way to go if you’re not working with a lot of space.

However, I think its long-term durability is a bit questionable. Some of the reviews on this one suggest that the wood is not the highest quality. This makes me think that overtime it could develop some inconsistencies that could negatively impact your sleep.

It retails for $349, which is a bit steep in my opinion. But if you get it from Amazon, you can get it for almost half price – $189.

My Novaform Gel Memory Foam Mattress Review

Design

The Novaform Gel Memory Foam mattress features a thickness of 12″. The top 2.5 inches consists of patented gel-memory foam technology and the middle consists of 2.5 inches of textured foam. The bottom layer provides 7 inches of superior-base foam. When you look at the breakdown, you’re really only getting 2.5 inches of memory foam on the top.

Now regularly I would advise you look for at least 3 or 4 inches of memory foam material so that you can maximize the amount of pressure point relief.

However, it does not seem necessary with this mattress because the Novaform gel is so dense and features special gel beads for maximum relief. Although it is only 2.5 inches, every inch is premium quality and super comfortable.

The rest of the layers are not as important, but it appears they’ve been specially designed to support the top gel layer on top. After sleeping on this mattress for a few days, I noticed no inconsistent sections and everything seems to feel even – which is what you would expect from a premium mattress.

Material

In terms of materials, the Novaform Gel Mattress is made from 100% hypo-allergenic and CFC-free materials. So if you’re an allergy sufferer or sensitive to “plasticky” smells, then this mattress is what you’re looking for. I’ve tried out some memory foam mattresses that feel great to sleep on, but feature such a strong smell it ruins your sleep (or even worse, gives you a headache).

Now that is not something you want when you’re trying to get a good night’s sleep!

Sleeping on the Novaform Gel Memory Foam Mattress

Now we get to the real meat of my Novaform Gel Memory Foam mattress review: how comfortable is it to sleep on?

For the most part, I was very impressed with how comfortable this mattress was. As soon as you lie on it, it gets to work conforming to your back’s unique characteristics. The sign of a good memory foam mattress is one that completely removes pressure points on your back.

This particular mattress definitely fits into that category. Some Novaform Gel Memory Foam Mattress reviews I came across even compared it to sleeping on a cloud (and when you sleep on it you will know exactly what they mean.)

Another problem with memory foam mattresses is that they tend to get very hot at night. This is especially the case with dense memory foam. However, the Novaform Gel Memory Foam Mattress maintains a consistent temperature throughout the night and has a specially designed circulation system. Heat is able to vent out properly and does not remain trapped in the memory foam.

The only drawback I could find about this mattress was its weight. It weighs about 91 pounds, which is quite heavy for a mattress. If you need to move it upstairs, you may find it a bit tricky. And its not the most maneuverable mattress either. It will definitely be at least a 2 or 3 person job. But of course, you’re probably not going to be moving it much once its in place, so this probably isn’t a huge issue for most people.

My Recommendation:

Now, there are two minor quibbles that need to be mentioned about this topper.

First, although all memory foam mattresses do have a strong smell after coming out of the box, this one has a particularly strong smell. Now, I’m not sure why this is, but it can be a bit of a shock for some people that have never bought a memory foam mattress before.

However, this smell goes away completely if you air it out for a day or two. Some people have even used febreeze to eliminate the smell right away – and with fairly good success. I only mention this because if you do decide to buy this topper, expect an initial smell. But it will go away after a short period, so don’t be too alarmed.

The second minor quibble is that this topper can heat up a little bit over the course of the night as it takes in your body heat. An easy way to prevent this is to put an extra mattress cover on it, to prevent too much of your body heat from transmitting to the memory foam. In most cases, this clears up the issue right away.

The reason why I put this mattress in the number 2 spot is because it is such a great value right now. It is a super comfortable 4 inch memory foam mattress topper that has brought a lot of comfort to people who have purchased it.
